The Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg, the country’s largest medical centre, outlined the opening of its long covid consultation section and an agreement on the construction of its new building as the main achievements in its 2021 report.

Luxembourg’s public healthcare provider admitted and treated 772 patients in its long covid ward in the span of one year. In 2022 the long covid team saw an addition of one doctor and a nurse manager.

The CHL cemented its plans for a new building in April 2022 when the construction project was validated by the government council. Scheduled to become operational at the end of 2028, the CHL Centre . With a capacity of 474 beds the new 12-storey Centre Hospitalier de Luxembourg building is an ambitious project.  Comprising some 54,158 m2 of serviceable volume, the new building--which will be linked to the two annexes of the current CHL building--will be located on the site of the former CHL maternity hospital, along the route d’Arlon between Val Fleuri and rue Federspiel.
