Luxembourg City Film Festival has been named one of MovieMaker’s 25 Coolest Film Festivals of 2022.

MovieMaker’s annual 25 Coolest Film Festivals list recognises festivals that go out of their way to be innovative, welcoming, and simply cool, the magazine says. Luxembourg City Film Festival has been named on the 2022 list, which was published on 21 July.

Producer and director Clint Bentley, cited in the magazine, said that Lux Film Fest was “one of the most charming film festivals out there.” Calling it a magical festival, Bentley said that “the people who run it are so kind and passionate about film. And the people of Luxembourg are just as wonderful. Despite being a small country, it seems to be packed with great filmmakers. Filmmakers who will happily drive you out of the city to a vineyard on your off day.”

A reputation for hospitality is built on teamwork, and Lux Film Fest will do everything possible, within its means, to preserve this reputation.

Luxembourg City Film Festival artistic director Alexis Juncosa was delighted that the festival was named on the list. “There are over 3,000 film festivals in the world. To be considered as one of the 25 best in this very specific field is necessarily a great team reward,” said Juncosa. “A reputation for hospitality is built on teamwork, and Lux Film Fest will do everything possible, within its means, to preserve this reputation.”

Lux Film Fest has firmly established itself as the nation’s leading cinema event and, having  passed the threshold of 30,000 visitors in 2018, is one of the festivals with the most spectacular growth in Europe.

MovieMaker editor-in-chief Tim Molloy praised the panel of moviemakers and film experts who chose these 25 festivals. “All 25 offer unforgettable, unique, happy experiences. They’re cool in the sense of ‘Whoa, that’s cool!,’ but also cool in terms of people being relaxed and nice to each other,” Molloy added.

The next edition of Luxembourg City Film Festival, which receives support from the ministry of culture and the City of Luxembourg, takes place from 2 to 12 March, 2023.
