A year after , the Luxembourg airline has ordered two 737-10s, with options for two additional aircraft. The 737-10, the largest model in the Max family, is renowned for its cost-effectiveness as a single-aisle aircraft.
The 737 Max family delivers a 20% reduction in fuel burn and carbon emissions compared to its predecessors, improving fleet efficiency and consistency. The 737-10, with its large capacity, can carry more passengers at a very low cost per seat. Luxair will use its new 737-10s to offer a minimum seat pitch of 76 cm, carrying up to 213 passengers over distances of up to 5,740 km.
“The purchase of the 737-10 is another step towards positioning our airline for our future, investing in the latest aviation technology to support our plans for fleet growth and decarbonisation. There are many similarities between the 737 Max models, enabling Luxair to achieve significant operational savings,” said Luxair CEO .
“With three members of the 737 Max family in its future fleet, Luxair will have the flexibility to use the right-sized aircraft based on market demand,” said Boeing senior vice president of commercial sales and marketing Brad McMullen.
In 2023, Luxair’s turnover amounted to €806.2m and its operating profit was €6.75m. The airline employed 3,163 people last year. Luxair currently has a fleet of 21 aircraft and has expanded its network of destinations by 30% in two years, serving 94 destinations.
