On 25 February, the Luxembourg ambassador to India, Peggy Frantzen, and the chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Shri S. Somanath, came together to sign a memorandum of understanding on space cooperation.

According to an official statement, the MoU will allow both countries to exchange expertise and information in mutually interesting areas, as well as establish a base for future cooperative projects in the field. Luxembourg Space Agency CEO Marc Serres commented on the news in a press release, saying: “This memorandum offers the opportunity for India and Luxembourg to move forward together on collaborations towards the exploration and uses of outer space for peaceful purposes.”

The signature is a key moment in the strengthening of the grand duchy’s and India’s international cooperation, he added. The collaboration would mainly concern research, academic exchange, exploration, development and the “use of outer space for peaceful purposes,” according to the LSA.
