Icarus by animator Carlo Vogele has made it on the list of international films that could be nominated for the 95th edition of the film awards.

The feature film, Vogele’s first one, is inspired by Greek mythology and follows the story of a young Icarus whose inventor father Daedalus collaborates with King Minos to imprison the Minotaur.  The young boy will attempt to save the Minotaur, whom he befriended. The film was supported by the Film Fund Luxembourg among others.

Vogele, born in Luxembourg, in the past worked for the Pixar studio in the US, where he worked on films such as Brave, Up, Toy Story 3, Monsters University, Cars 2 and The Good Dinosaur. His first feature film as a director at the Luxembourg Film Festival in March 2022.  

Luxembourg co-production to represent Austria on the pre-nomination list.
