672 new charging points for electric vehicles in Luxembourg. This is the result of 29 company projects that will be supported by the state with a total amount of €4.5 million

Following the first call for financial aid to companies investing in charging infrastructure for electric vehicles, 29 projects were selected. They will benefit from a subsidy of up to 50% of the investments linked to the deployment of charging stations with a charging capacity of at least 175kW.

Minister for the economy,, commented: "By financially supporting companies that deploy charging infrastructures, this aid instrument contributes to the decarbonisation of transport and the development of electromobility in Luxembourg. The 29 subsidised projects are part of the government's efforts to achieve the objectives of the energy transition."

The 29 projects selected were submitted by 19 companies, including 3 small, 3 medium-sized and 13 large companies, from all over the country. The total amount of aid granted by the state is over €4.5m. A total of 672 charging points will be subsidised, of which 510 are private charging points, 20 are accessible to the public during the opening hours of the company car park and 142 are accessible to the public 24/7. The total charging capacity of these stations is 25,847kW.

Each new charging point installed on our territory contributes to improving the density of our network of charging points, which is already among the densest in Europe.

 Minister for energy,  said he was pleased with the outcome of this first call for tenders: "These results show that Luxembourg companies are ready to take up the challenge of electromobility. Each new charging point installed on our territory contributes to improving the density of our network of charging points, which is already among the densest in Europe. The 672 additional charging points, 44 of which are fast charging points, will provide adequate support for the deployment of additional electric vehicles."

The next call for projects will be launched in early 2023.

There is also another aid scheme reserved for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that can benefit from a subsidy of up to 50% of the costs linked to charging stations and up to 60% of the costs linked to the connection to the electricity grid. This aid is capped at €60,000  for the costs of connection to the electricity grid and €40,000 for the other costs related to deployment per company.
