Luxembourg’s pavilion at the 2025 World Expo Osaka will be built in the image of a project by architectural firm SteinmetzDeMeyer in collaboration with Jangled Nerves which was selected among 11 other applicants.

At a press briefing on the premises of the Fonds Kirchberg on 10 June, economy minister Franz Fayot (LSAP) announced the winner of the competition to design the 2025 pavilion. The pavilion will be designed around a concept titled “Doki-Doki Lux – The Luxembourg Multiverse”.

“In Japan, 'doki-doki' describes the sound the heart makes when it beats. It is used to express enthusiasm and excitement, as well as energy and passion,” said Arnaud De Meyer, urban architect, and partner at SteinmetzDeMeyer.

The pavilion concept features three exhibition rooms. An interactive space will allow visitors to experience how Luxembourg is approaching the future and the environmental impact of one’s actions. Another room will present Luxembourg via virtual images and a third will feature an immersive space in which visitors will experience a 360 view of landscapes in the grand duchy.

Next week, the GIE Luxembourg Expo 2025 Osaka will be created. It will act as a project manager with an estimated budget of €12 to €32m. The chamber of commerce will contribute €3m to the funding of Luxembourg’s pavilion.
