The Luxembourg Stock Exchange’s sustainable finance platform added €23bn worth of bonds during the first month of the year, bringing the overall total into 13 figures.
As of 31 January 2024, the Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX) “counts €1trn worth of outstanding green, social, sustainability and sustainability-linked (GSSS) bonds on the platform,” Laetitia Hamon, the stock exchange’s head of sustainable finance, on 14 February 2024.
That is up from on 31 December 2023.
“The LGX platform, as of 31 January 2024, serves 310+ issuers from 60 countries, which together have issued more than 1,900 GSSS bonds in 41 currencies,” Hamon stated on the bourse’s blog.
The LGX had just over 100 sustainable bonds listed at the end of the first year that it operated, in 2016. The figure surpassed 1,000 in May 2021.
Issuers include multilateral development banks, financial institutions and corporates, with funds raised financing renewable energy, education, health and housing projects.
