Luxembourg co-production Corsage has been selected for the 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival with Vicky Krieps playing Austro-Hungarian Empress Elisbeth in the film.

The Samsa Film co-production will feature among the 14 selected films in the category “Un certain regard” which highlights original films and upcoming talents. Corsage is centred on the life of the famous Austro-Hungarian Empress Elisabeth, known as Sissi. She is played by internationally renowned Vicky Krieps and the cast also includes another Luxembourg actress--Jeanne Werner.

The Austrian, Luxembourg, German and Franch co-production was shot from March to July 2021 in the grand duchy and in Austria.

 directed by Joachim Lafosse. Mostly shot in Luxembourg, the film features a number of recognisable local actors, including Luc Schiltz, who starred in the hit Netflix detective series “”, and Larisa Faber.

After a one-year gap in 2020 and a 74th edition postponed to July 2021, the Film Fund Luxembourg will be back in Cannes at its usual time slot: from 17 to 25 May 2022. The Luxembourg pavilion will host production, post-production and new technologies companies for the industry meet.
