EU deputy Christophe Hansen, who belongs to the centre-right European People’s party (EPP), was elected as one of the quaestors to work alongside the new head of the European Parliament.

Following , the Maltese MEP was elected for the position on 18 January. Joining her are 14 vice-presidents and five questors, who comprise the bureau, and will do until the end of the legislative period in 2024. Among the five quaestors who oversee the financial and administrative matters relating to MEPs, is Luxembourg MEP and EPP trade coordinator Christophe Hansen (CSV).

The deputy, in a tweet reacted to his election, saying, “I would like to thank all my colleagues and friends in the different political groups who gave me their trust. I will be at your service to assure the proper functioning of our (European parliament).”

Quaestor candidates in parliament, “are elected by a single ballot, with an absolute majority of votes cast. If the number of successful candidates is lower than 14, a second ballot is held for the remaining seats, under the same conditions. If a third vote is necessary to complete the process, a simple majority is sufficient,”

Hansen in his role as MEP is a member of the delegations for relations with the countries of the Andean community, and the Euro-Latin American parliamentary assembly, and has recently acted
