The newly instated Lëtzebuerger Musekspräisser on 22 November revealed its first nominees.

by culture minister Sam Tanson (déi Gréng), the awards aim to recognise the efforts of artists both on and behind the musical stage. The Musekspräisser (‘music awards’) in turn will be separated into six different categories for a total budget of €25,000.  Among the names, many are already familiar faces on the local scene.

Pit Brosius, Benjamin Kruithof, CHAILD, and MAZ for instance have been selected for the “Nowuestalent” (‘up-and-coming’) category. The latter two have also been shortlisted for the “Op der Bün” (“on stage”) award, alongside Tuys, Reis Demuth Wiltgen and Artemandoline.

In the “Behind the scene” category, Stéphanie Baustert, Tom Gatti, Charles Stoltz, Konektis Entertainment and Sacha Hanlet are competing for the award, while Big Band OPUS7, the national youth orchestra, Hunnegstrëpp, Luxembourg Philharmonia and Festival Koll an Aktioun compete in a category awarding musicians who perform as a hobby.

Konetkis Entertainment, OCL, Two Steps Twice, Beast and Klengen Maarnecher Festival are making up the shortlist for the “Museksvermëttlung” award, which puts forward efforts in spreading music and growing audiences.

An additional €10,000 will be awarded to the winner of the “Nationale Musekspräis”, who will be rewarded for their lifetime achievements and their contribution to the Luxembourgish music scene.

The winners will be selected and presented during a ceremony on 21 December.
