Monet, Renoir, Manet... You may know the Impressionist painters, but did you know they also exist in the music world? On 10 March, the Luxembourg Philharmonic will take you on a rapturous journey through two fascinating musical canvases.

The scene is set in the midst of a sun-lit clearing. A strange creature is lounging on the grass, nonchalantly playing a small panpipe... Claude Debussy's mischievous and delightful Prelude to the Afternoon of a Faun feels like a daydream indeed! Without opening our eyes, we then follow his contemporary Manuel de Falla into the heart of his native Spain in a bewitching symphonic tableau inspired by mellow Andalusian nights.

Tchaikovsky's Fifth Symphony, on the other hand, does not seek to portray a dreamlike landscape or a distant horizon. Rather, it brings us closer to our human frailty, to the soul grappling with its unchanging fate. This poignant masterpiece will conclude an evening that is as colourful as it is emotional. We look forward to seeing you there!
