Offspring in the grand duchy tend to move out the parental home at around 26.8 years old, a Eurostat study has found.

Be it for financial reasons or others, young European adults on average stay with their parents or guardians until they’re 26.5 years old. Sweden with an average of 19, and Portugal with an average of 33.6 make up the top and bottom of the ranking published by European statistics bureau Eurostat.

Women in all EU member states left home at a younger age than men: in Luxembourg, they were 26.3, while men were 27.4 years old by the time they found their own place.

These results collected from data from 2021 strongly That year, Luxembourgers were amongst the youngest in the EU to leave the parental household, at the age of 19.8.

Like in 2020, however, geographically, the trends skew on a north–south basis: youngsters in Mediterranean countries generally stay at home until their mid-20s or early 30s, while in Scandinavia the average age is lower.
