Magrid, created by Tahereh Pazouki, won the 15th edition of the Cyel competition, organised by the Junior Economic Chamber of Luxembourg, on Wednesday evening. Quentin de Madre and Jonathan Kindermans, with Kidola, came in second place, while RoomMate, created by Mattia Raffaelli, reached the third step of the podium.

The gala evening of the Cyel (Creative Young Entrepreneur Luxembourg) competition, organised by the Junior Chamber of Commerce of Luxembourg, took place on Wednesday 1 December. Its objective is to encourage young, creative and innovative entrepreneurs, between 18 and 40 years old, to respond to market challenges while expanding their ecosystem of partners in the long term.

For this 15th edition, which makes the Cyel one of the oldest competitions of its kind in Luxembourg, the start-up Magrid, led by Tahereh Pazouki, has been chosen as the winner.

The young woman arrived in Luxembourg in 2012 from Iran and went straight to university to obtain a master's degree in computer science, while working on SnT projects. Once she obtained her PhD, she continued to develop her solution dedicated to learning mathematics without language being a barrier.

A few weeks ago, Magrid also won the EIB's social innovation competition.

Kidola came in second place and offers a technological solution that revolutionises the relationship between parents and nursery staff.

Finally, the third place goes to RoomMate. Founded by Matteo Bucci, Francesco Cotugno, Mirko Martignon and Mattias Raffaelli (current CEO), it is a rental fleet management solution that makes relations between rental companies and tenants more fluid.

Double “Coup de Coeur”

Two "Coup de Coeur" awards were also presented.

The first went to Filip Westerlund for his start-up Our Choice, which received a Sustainability Award. His idea: to create a circular economy model using sustainable materials.

The second went to Supermiro by Elfy Pins. A Resilient Award for its perseverance and ability to cope with the circumstances of the pandemic.
