Bureau Moderne showroom

Bureau Moderne’s showroom does much more than just display high quality office furniture and signature accessories and lighting for both office and home – it makes you feel welcome. And they know how to make your office and home feel equally as welcoming!

You’re very welcome to stop by the Bureau Moderne showrooms, but it’s likely to be more than a cursory stop. You’ll want to linger in the décor that puts art back in state-of-art, where you feel relaxed but invigorated and inspired. You’ll want to try out a sofa or chair, picturing yourself working on your laptop or making a presentation. And you’d be welcome to do more than imagine it – you can stay a while, bringing your laptop, colleagues or family.

CEO Camille Lohbeck’s office is right at the entrance, but unless he’s actually at his desk, you might mistake it for part of the showroom.  It wouldn’t be a mistake. His office does showcase what Bureau Moderne does best – which goes far beyond desks and chairs.

“Spaces that support and nourish, rather than drain”

It a given that we have good furniture,” Lohbeck says. “Our added value is that we think things through to create spaces that support and nourish rather than drain. To understand the importance of that, imagine a restaurant that serves great food, but is too loud or too bright, he explains. You wouldn’t go back”.

Sitting with Lohbeck at the table in his office doesn’t feel intimidating, even though he runs a company that comprises Bureau Moderne for offices, Reed & Simon for home interiors, and Febru, for manufacturing. That it doesn’t is by design, not accident. “Little things make big differences, and it doesn’t have to be expensive,” he says, pointing to the decorative lighting, to the vase, the plant, the personal touches that are so inviting. You feel at home, if home is a gorgeous penthouse with space, light, natural materials, sophistication and style. But it’s not fussy or pretentious: you could kick your shoes off here.

“The distinction between office and home is blurring”

The pandemic accelerated a trend; it shifted what was already coasting along into fifth gear.  People used to teleworking are not going to want to return to impersonal offices. And people continuing to work from home are unlikely to settle for working at the end of a dining table where they can’t hear themselves think. We need the best of both worlds.

Although we do have beautiful pieces, we’re not here just to show you a table or a chair,” says Lohbeck. “You can indeed come for that – or to outfit an entire building – but what we really do is help people feel and perform their best”.

That means helping companies take care of their most valuable asset – their people. But how?  By creating great environments, says Lohbeck. “If you give employees a raise, they might stay a while. But if they really like the ambiance at work, they will want to remain indefinitely.”

Come learn by example how to create optimal work and living spaces at the Bureau Moderne showroom. Among the gorgeous configurations, you might even spy a sleek ceramic cat, curled up on a sofa – a perfect companion for those of us who got used to having their pets nearby.

That’s well thought out, like the ample parking just outside the door and the kids’ area to keep little ones occupied while you browse and reflect.  Bureau Moderne thinks of everything – that’s what they’re known for!
