On Monday 3 March, Mariangela Marseglia, officially VP EU Stores at Amazon, takes over from Jorrit Van der Meulen as head of the Luxembourg-based entities.

“Today marks a personal Day 1 for me, and I’m excited to share it with you: my first day as leader of the EU Stores team at Amazon and my first day in our Luxembourg office, our EU headquarter. It's a privilege to succeed Jorrit, and I’m very grateful to inherit an exceptional team, while building on the strong foundations and partnerships he has developed, not only within EU Stores, but also with many other teams at Amazon.”

In a message to her teams in Luxembourg on Monday morning, Mariangela Marseglia, officially VP EU Stores at Amazon, takes over from Jorrit Van der Meulen. Amazon in November announced that it in 2023. Its investments contributed €758m to the country’s GDP in 2023, and the giant employs 4,250 people in Luxembourg, one of the grand duchy’s biggest employers. According to Amazon EU’s consolidated accounts for 2024, the company generated sales of $638bn, an annual increase of 11%.

Two country managers appointed in Italy and Spain

, Marseglia has been with Amazon for more than 15 years, where she has led some of Amazon’s key business areas, including electronics and fresh produce, and most recently held the positions of country manager for Italy and Spain.

“I’m truly excited to take on this new European role,” she said at the time of her appointment. “Under Jorrit’s leadership, we’ve accomplished so much across the region--benefiting customers, sellers, communities and employees. As I step into this new chapter, I look forward to building on what we’ve achieved as a team and helping drive Amazon’s next phase of growth in Europe.”

With Marseglia’s arrival in her new role, Amazon also appointed Giorgio Busnelli as country manager for Italy and Ruth Diaz as country manager for Spain. Both will report to Marseglia and will continue in their current roles, heading up the Consumables Europe and Fashion Europe teams respectively.
