Medi-Market, named Belgian company of the year 2023, will open its tenth shop in Luxembourg in the Opkorn shopping centre in Differdange.

Ten years after its creation, the Belgian company Medi-Market will open its tenth shop in Luxembourg, the property developer Iko Real Estate said on Thursday. The shop will open on 17 April in the Opkorn shopping centre in Differdange, owned by Iko Real Estate. The recipe for success? More than 10,000 pharmacy, personal hygiene, skincare and beauty products; low prices, 20% less for non-prescription medicines thanks to the large volumes ordered; and availability of health professionals.

The company, which is almost wholly owned by the De Clercq family, employs around 1,000 people, had a turnover of €245m in 2022 and has 140 outlets, including pharmacies and personal care products shops, and around ten beauty salons. In addition to Luxembourg, Medi-Market is set to open ten new shops in Belgium and a further 15 in Italy.

40% of shoppers at Opkorn had expressed an interest in this type of business, which complements traditional pharmacies, Iko Real Estate said.
