Ambassador Schubert makes cycling look effortless--pictured here on the banks of the Moselle near Remich. Guy Wolff/Maison Moderne

In our eighth instalment in this series, Austrian ambassador Melitta Schubert tells Delano more about places that remind her of home and why she began the Luxembourg Ladies Ambassadors Club. 

Ambassador Schubert enjoys the hiking and ­biking trails so much that she cycled from Luxembourg City to Remich for the photo above.

“I love especially the Moselle region because water adds a special touch to the landscape, and it also reminds me of our famous Wachau region,” similarly known for its picturesque vineyards and lush hills.

She and her team are working on a publication about Austria-Luxembourg links, expected for release by mid-2023. It was also on her initiative in November 2021 that the Luxembourg Ladies Ambassadors Club was founded to support Femmes en Détresse. The group of six meet regularly, engaging with stakeholders to promote women’s rights. “We are aware that there is still much work needed in this area... I’m proud to be part of this group of active, engaged and dedicated women.”
