Team talk: Meet one of Delano’s newest colleagues Dina, who joined the team in November.

Can you tell us a bit about your background?

Before working as a financial journalist, I studied finance and worked as an senior investment analyst for 15 years. During that time, I also did a master’s degree in international studies with a focus on diplomacy, and a professional diploma in strategic communication. But more than half of my family has worked as a journalist, including my mother and husband. So I have always been surrounded by people working in this field, and I’m passionate about the news, making videos, newsrooms--I have been to several different ones. My husband and I and another partner created a family business in digital media that we enjoyed building block by block, and that also drove my interest in journalism.

You’re from Palestine and have been in Luxembourg for a few years. What do you like about the grand duchy?

The international community, the international environment, the different languages. People are smiling. It’s a small country, but big with hopes and big with smiles! My kids love it, they speak multiple languages now--kids have their own “secret” language generally, but now they have an additional one that I need to learn to keep up with them--and it has a great educational and healthcare system.

Besides, Luxembourg is a financial hub. With my background in financial and investment analysis, it’s the perfect combination for me and and my family to be here.

What do you do for fun?

I read books, and I also travel around with my family in a camper van--my husband actually built a camper van this summer from an old truck! Camper vans might seem small and cramped, but this one had enough room for four people to sleep and a bathroom where you could actually turn around. I also enjoy cooking, making pastries and vegetables stuffed with cooked rice.
