To help support residents during the energy crisis, Luxembourg City will introduce and increase financial aid measures, as announced on 18 October.

The new measures are meant to tackle climate change and support households that face an increase in the cost of living. A question-and-answer session, which will be livestreamed, will be held on 10 November to provide details on who can benefit from the subsidies and to explain .

In a video statement, mayor (DP) declared, “We will do our best to help citizens cope, through financial aid, as well as helping to make homes as energy efficient as possible.” The grants programme for energy renovations, renewable energy, repairing household appliances, green roofs, and rainwater collection tanks will be expanded.

Grants will also be given to help people buy homes in the city. The efforts are meant to help tackle both the climate crisis and the energy crisis, as well as support residents faced with the cost-of-living crisis.

According to Luxembourg’s , between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2022, 671 apartments in Luxembourg City were sold, with an average price of €11,534 per square metre. In addition, 176 apartments whose construction have not been completed (“ventes en etat futur d'achevement (VEFA)”) were sold in Luxembourg City, with an average price of €13,947 per square metre. The price per square metre in Luxembourg City is the highest in the country, followed by Bertrange.
