Cosi fan tutte! All the same! To reach this playful and provocative conclusion, the two “partners in crime” weave a plot in the style of a vaudeville comedy, but before its time. Unfortunate bets, spectacular misunderstandings, exchanges, and dissimulations: they lead their pawns to the edge of absurdity in a brilliant piece that refuses to take itself seriously.

But make no mistake: behind this colourful playfulness lie deep questions. Is love absolute? How can one’s ideals and real-life experiences be reconciled? Under what conditions can one remain faithful? What does trust mean if it implies having to put the other to the test? 

This delightful cacophony of passions is counterbalanced by the harmony of the score written by a Mozart at the height of his artistic maturity. Although Cosi fan tutte may be a comedic «opera buffa», it also contains some of the most inspiring and delicate ensemble pieces ever to spring to life from Mozart’s imagination.
