The Director General of Médecins Sans Frontières Luxembourg, Roger Martinez-Dolz, will step down at the beginning of June 2022. The position will be filled in May.

Current director general, Roger Martinez-Dolz, has held the position since 1 March 2020. "He is going on parental leave at the beginning of June. After that, he will move on to other activities,” explains Marie-Nathalie Houba, MSF director of human resources. In a LinkedIn post, Martinez-Dolz describes his experience at the head of MSF Luxembourg as "a real honour and a lesson in humility". What will he do next? "I have no idea. It will depend on my family situation, I will start thinking about it in October. Maybe teaching or going back to school... We'll see where life takes me."

Waiting for applications

The new general manager's mission will be to "lead the development of MSF Luxembourg both within the Luxembourg company and within the MSF movement, reporting to the MSF Luxembourg board. The future candidate will be responsible for the leadership, development and implementation of the strategic plan for the 2020-2023 chapter and subsequent four-years.” They will also participate in the MSF Movement CEO forums. Other tasks include the coordination of the international HR indicators report to be published annually by MSF Luxembourg.

He or she will be responsible for the 30 or so employees of MSF Luxembourg. The organisation also has about 50 volunteers, nine board members, 100 associate members and 23,500 active donors.

MSF is looking for candidates with leadership and management experience who share their values, in addition to organisational, interpersonal, analytical and political skills, with creativity and a proactive attitude. Fluency in written and spoken English and French is required. And, typically for Luxembourg, the ad states that “another language is an asset.”
