On 14 March 2025 a new burger restaurant is opening its doors: Munchies. Paperjam managed to get a taste ahead of time.

Munchies Burger, the new temple to burgers in Luxembourg City, has opened its doors (which you can find at 12, Rue Chimay). With a short but punchy menu, the brand is banking on exceptional local ingredients: free-range beef from Jeff Malget, artisan breads from Boulangerie Mosella and a selection of gourmet burgers, including a vegetarian version (the “munchies special”). Thought up by Black Sheep, the group behind Bella Ciao, Häerz and Partigiano, Munchies Burger promises a tasty experience, available on site or delivered via Wolt Luxembourg.

Despite a small menu with just a handful of burger options, we had no trouble making our selections. True, the Flying Dutchman and the Oklahoma Smash looked appetising (not to mention the side dishes, including salads and sweet potato fries, plus desserts à la carte).

But no: we went for the Korean Chicken Burger, with fries, homemade iced tea and a little hot sauce.

The verdict? The burger was of very good quality, fresh and appetising. The little spicy cucumbers and the spicy chicken are what make it so good, neither too greasy nor too filling. The fries, on the other hand, weren’t the best texture, a little too floury for our taste and lacking in salt. Fortunately, there’s range of sauces on offer (for a range of tastes). The fries managed to disappear.

The real banger of the evening was the Munchies Iced Tea, a perfect balance of sweet, fruity and fresh. A real treat! Expect the €20 menu price.

Ordering is done at the kiosks at the entrance. As far as decoration is concerned, green is the predominant colour. There are low tables and slightly higher counters for dining alone or with friends. Outside, a terrace completes the seating for fine weather. On the walls, colourful neon lights and a multitude of mirrors make the restaurant downright Instagrammable. We didn’t try out the pinball machine, but it did fit the decor.
