The two major players in Luxembourg’s drinks sector, Munhowen and Boissons Heintz, are aiming to become one: a contract will be signed next week and the takeover of Boisson Heintz by Munhowen will be finalised on 1 February.

A new drinks giant is on the horizon, with talks underway between Munhowen and Boissons Heintz. Munhowen’s commercial director Isabelle Lentz confirmed to the Wort on 9 January that a merger with Boissons Heintz is in the cards. “We’re in discussions concerning the merger of the two companies,” she said. Details of the state of negotiations remain confidential.

According to the Wort, a contract is expected to be signed next week, marking the takeover of Boisson Heintz by Munhowen. The deal should be finalised on 1 February.

Boissons Heintz, a century-old family business, made a profit of €625,538 in 2022 and generated sales of €38.18m. The company has diversified over the years: initially specialising in beer and lemonades, it now offers more than 3,500 products and serves some 2,000 regular customers, reports the Wort.

Munhowen (228 employees in 2022), for its part, posted a profit of €1.73m in 2022, consolidating its position as leader in the Luxembourg drinks market.
