Delicate pastries and desserts presented in a contemporary setting where it is even possible to enjoy lunch: NB Creations by Nicolas Bourgard awaits gourmets in Strassen.

Colourful, original compositions, some of which are presented as optical illusions: Bourgard's display does not fail to catch the eye and the appetite of passing gourmets in his shop which opened at the end of October.

“For me, it's the fulfilment of a dream,” says the 25-year-old pastry chef, who works with a team of two cooks and his wife Roxana who works in the dining room.

From starred restaurants to his own shop

This native of Lorraine has worked in a series of Parisian boutiques and starred restaurants in France such as L'Oasis in Mandelieu-la-Napoule and L'Île Rousse in Bandol. Back in the greater region, he worked at Citadelle in Metz before becoming head pastry chef at Cercle Munster.

In Strassen, Bourgard is now working in "a place where people live and eat,” as he puts it. Alongside classics such as the Opéra or Bavarian, Bourgard concocts delicate and original preparations such as mango-dill-green desserts or luscious mouthfuls that remind many of Salvador Dalí's Boca sofa. Inside, a pistachio mousse with a set of citrus fruits awaken the taste buds.

A savoury menu is offered every day at lunchtime as well as a Sunday brunch. On Saturday afternoons, Bourgard offers to share his know-how in private pastry classes.

His shop-restaurant is located behind the Delhaize in Strassen at 153-155 rue du Kiem. The craftsman does not hide his appetite to grow and has ambitions to open two other points of sale in 2022, preferably in shopping centres.
