The Luxembourg Stock Exchange has notched up a record-breaking year.

One in three international bonds listed worldwide are traded on the grand duchy’s stock market, it has said.

The Luxembourg Stock Exchange added 13,900 new securities last year. “This represents a 13% increase compared to 2022 and a record year for listings since 2007,” the bourse in a blog post on 5 February 2024.

There were 479 active securities issuers on the exchange in 2023, which includes “92 new issuers from 24 countries”, bringing the cumulative total to “1,800 issuers across 100 countries.” That meant that “LuxSE now holds a marketshare of 34% in terms of international bonds listed worldwide, according to figures from Dealogic.”

The total amount raised was up by 8% year-on-year, to €1.2trn. Bond trading activity “increased by more than 130%”, partially fuelled by a 200% jump on its LuxXPrime platform for retail fixed income investors.

At the end of December 2023, its Luxembourg Green Exchange (LGX) had 3,600 securities, “including 1,870+ green, social, sustainability and sustainability-linked bonds”, representing total issuance of €977bn.
