A few steps from the Place du Théâtre, Lucas Ney has just opened Glou: a discreet spot with beautiful natural bottles, a friendly atmosphere and simple, gourmet bistro cuisine.

The location known for hosting the first cat bar in Luxembourg is now the first wine bar in the country not to have any Bordeaux on its list. Glou is the initiative of Lucas Ney, an importer of good bottles through his Vinaly business and who is very informed about new trends and emerging terroirs.

The Glou cellar contains wines from northern Portugal, Israel, Andalusia, the Czech Republic, Burgundy and Luxembourg vineyards... but none from Bordeaux! "These are not wines that I particularly like and the idea was really to please myself and to make my customers discover my tastes as well as possible, so I took this rather unique decision for a wine bar,” Ney explains. The focus is clearly on biodynamic and natural wines.

The space itself is very pleasant, with a mixture of high and low comfortable seats for a total of 25 to 30 covers, and 4 to 5 spots at the bar, which are usually the first to be occupied. You can also have some food thanks to the small open kitchen where a chef prepares tartars, ceviches and well-chosen platters of cold meats and cheeses. A more complete version of the menu is expected in a few weeks, after a short break-in period.

In the meantime, it's the cep season and the menu features, as of Wednesday 28 September, a carpaccio of ceps and Piedmont hazelnuts, a cep tartine, fresh pasta with ceps and a 100% Angus Irish entrecote with ceps.

The bar promises to be a great place to pop into on the evenings of shows at the Théâtre des Capucins opposite the bar. And if you feel like taking away a good bottle of wine tasted or recommended on the spot, no problem: the establishment offers a take away service with a 30% reduction on the table price!

Glou Wine Bistro: 19, rue des Capucins, Luxembourg (Centre-Ville), Tuesdays from 5.30pm to 11pm and Wednesdays to Saturdays from 12pm to midnight.
