You commute from Metz every day. But would you describe yourself as a “frontalier”?

Well, roughly 10% of commuters from France are not French, and the figures are 17% for Belgium and 16% for Germany, according to Social Security Inspectorate data published by Statec. That’s nearly 6% of Luxembourg’s total workforce. Do we merit a special category? “Expat frontaliers”? “Frontierless frontaliers”?

How do you think the outside world’s perception of Luxembourg has changed since you first arrived?

Not much, actually. The “tax haven” label is stuck on pretty firmly. Interestingly, it was the government’s space mining initiative and introduction of free public transport that seemed to make the biggest international impression outside of finance.

What has given you the most satisfaction during your eight and a half years on the Delano team?

That we’ve kept improving. And that we’ve really filled a need in the media marketplace.
