Drivers’ frustration with long waiting times and an inflexible appointment service at the Sandweiler SNCT station, which carries out roadworthiness checks on vehicles, may soon be relieved. The station is extending its opening hours to 6 p.m. on Mondays and 7 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday, and will also open on Saturdays between 7.30 a.m. and 1.30 p.m. (by appointment only).

In addition, those drivers who cannot make the appointed time and date for their annual roadworthiness test (for cars over 3 years old) will be able to make a new appointment via the station’s internet site rather than having to try and get through to a member of staff via telephone. Thirteen extra inspection staff and a new expanded testing hall should also make the experience more pleasant and easier for drivers.

Indeed, the SNCT says that those drivers who arrive on time for an appointment and are not seen within 15 minutes will receive a 15 euro reduction in the cost of the check-up. The cost of the test has now risen to 27 euro (an increase of 4 euro) and will cost an additional one euro for those taking an appointment during the extended opening times or on a Saturday.

The new opening times come into effect on August 27.
