Following the Wild Wild West bash at Cat Club to launch the magazine, and last year’s London Calling celebration of our first anniversary, it was the turn of the Irish to help mark the next milestone in Delano’s story.

The Everything’s Gone Green soiree kicked-off with a private party featuring DJ Sam Steen, Guinness and Irish whiskey, and other drinks and snacks provided by Mama Loves You.

Delano’s special guest was international Rose of Tralee Nicola McEvoy, who drew the tombola prizes that included a basket of Irish goods courtesy of Little Britain, which was won by Liga Purina.

Five pairs of free Flibco passes for travel to Frankfurt-Hahn were won by Dorothy Germaine, Gaëtan Hertz, Nicolas Larese-Capo, Julie Luzoir and Maureen Rodgers.

Last but not least, Nicolas Vivien won a free Berlitz language course worth 700 euro.

Nicola and this year’s Luxembourg Rose candidates then presented a cheque for €1,000 for Kriibskrank Kanner, an organisation that supports children with cancer and their families.

The donation was part of the Roses’ fundraising effort for a number of charities, which also included raising  €1,000 for Crumlin Hospital Dublin, €500 each for Autisme asbl, Adi Roche Foundation Chernobyl (which Nicola is visiting later this year), Marys Meals and Ilula Orphan programme in Tanzania (supported by Sunflower Creche).

This year’s Roses are Julie Smith, Laura Droog and Lisa Crotty, and Caoimhe Adams, who is not pictured. One of them will be crowned the new Luxembourg Rose of Tralee on March 9.

At 9 o’clock the doors of den Atelier were opened for a free public concert by The Shanes, a seven-piece indie-folk group based just across the border in Germany.

Delano’s February print edition, released the birthday bash, includes a focus on the year of the Irish, with ambassador Diarmuid O’Leary talking about Ireland’s big agenda for 2013, and on the year-long “The Gathering”, a label the Irish are using the promote their isle.
