The revamped site now features a more advanced search system, France Clarinval, Explorator’s editor-in-chief, said on Friday.

Developed in collaboration with design firm Bunker Place, the site lets readers use a wider set of criteria to search for a restaurant beyond essential details such as type of cuisine and if the restaurant has a terrace or admits dogs. “You can search for a restaurant directly on a Google Map that is embedded on the site.”

In addition, the site has added more food news, portraits of chefs and details like the editor’s choices of child-friendly establishments.

“The idea was to make the site more readable, more clear, more attractive and more modern.”

The Explorator guide premiered in 1994 and Explorator.lu started in 1995. This year the brand launched an IPTV channel, Explorator.tv, whose first programme is a monthly French-language restaurant talk show hosted by Clarinval called “Meet & Eat” (photo, right, interviewing Richard Brilliet of Um Plateau).

The 18th printed edition will be released in October. The company will also launch new versions of its iPad & iPhone applications in the coming months, which will take advantage of the site’s upgraded database and search tools.

Like Delano, Explorator is published by Maison Moderne.
