The bullet hole was discovered after the Boeing747-400 freighter had returned from a charter flight on July 4 to Abuja in Nigeria via Abidjan in Ivory Coast and Accra, Ghana. The hole was found in an unpressurised area on the left side near the rear of the plane. A Cargolux statement says that the hole did not endanger the safety of the crew at any time. The freight operator also says that there is no evidence the plane itself was targeted by whoever fired the gun that caused the bullet hole, “but that cannot be ruled out.”
