Sudhir Kimar Kohli, president of the IBCL, explains why the date serves as the chamber’s biggest gathering of the year: “The American chamber has Thanksgiving as their annual event. The British chamber has Christmas dinner as their annual event. So the Indian chamber has the Diwali event.”
Diwali is the festival of lights, an important, family-centred festival for Hindus and Jains. It also traditionally marks the beginning of the financial year in Indian business communities across the globe.
The IBCL’s Bollywood Musical Dance extravaganza, which featured fine Indian cuisine and a free tombola, was held October 22 at the Alivisse Parc Hotel in Dommeldange.
Still time to celebrate
The Indian Association of Luxembourg hosts its popular Deewali festival this Saturday, October 29 at Centre sociétaire et culturel in Leudelange. The soirée will also mark its 20th anniversary.
