Audit and consulting firm KPMG has officially inaugurated its new Luxembourg headquarters in Kirchberg.
The building was unveiled Thursday evening in a ceremony attended by Xavier Bettel, the prime minister, Pierre Gramegna, the finance minister, Nicolas Schmit, the labour minister, and François Bausch, the sustainable development and infrastructure minister, among others.
Work on the 17,886 square metre complex at 39 Boulevard John F. Kennedy began in the spring of 2012. It was built to replace KPMG’s existing three buildings--two in Limpertsberg and one in Strassen--and allow the firm’s staff to work at a single site.
The company said this week that it employs 1,255 people in Luxembourg. That makes it the 29th largest employer, including the public sector, in the Grand Duchy, according to the latest figures from Statec, the government statistics service.
The company also stated that the building could accommodate up to 1,400 employees, and that it was in the process of receiving BREEAM certification, a sustainable development label.
The building was designed by Luxembourg-based architect Hermann & Valentiny and constructed by Felix Giorgetti.
