Lucien Thiel dies

Politics: The head of the Christian Social People party in the Chamber of Deputies died Thursday morning, reports RTL.

Born in Luxembourg in 1943, Thiel became a journalist and was editor-in-chief of the newspapers Revue and d’Letzebuerger Land. He was director of the Luxembourg bankers association (ABBL) from 1999 to 2004, when he then entered parliament.

He was elected head of the CSV’s parliamentary faction, the largest in the Chamber, this past February.

The cause of death and service information have not yet been announced.
