Gilles Muller is having the best season of his tennis career so far--at least that’s what the numbers say. The left-hander from Leudelange was ranked 121 back in May, but subsequently has put in good performances at Wimbledon and especially at the recent US Open (he lost to Rafael Nadal in both championships after giving the Spaniard a decent game in the first set of both matches), as well as at a number of lesser ranked tournaments. Indeed, he reached four ATP Challenge Tour finals this year, winning one tournament. Not only that, but he has amassed prize money so far this season of $287,250.

In his interview with Delano Muller said his ambition this year was to reach the Top 50 for the first time in his career. “Once I achieve that, who knows...”
