Prince Felix and Princess Claire’s first child was born over the weekend.
Princess Amalia Gabriela Maria Teresa came into this world at Grand-Duchesse maternity centre in Luxembourg on Sunday, Grand Duke Henri and Grand Duchess Maria Teresa announced.
She is the head of state and his wife’s third grandchild. Their third son, Prince Louis, and his wife Princess Tessy have two sons, Gabriel and Noah.
Princess Amalia’s middle names are taken from both grandmothers’ given names.
She weighed 2.95 kilos and measured 50 cm at birth, the lord chamberlain said in a statement. “Prince Félix was at the side of his wife in the delivery room,” the palace said. Both mother and daughter “are both doing well”.
The young couple married last September and currently run her family’s winery in the south of France. However they returned to the Grand Duchy for the birth.
Prince Félix is second in line to succeed his father, the grand duke, after Crown Prince Guillaume.
