Alix, Countess De Lannoy, has died at the age of 70, just a few weeks before the wedding of her daughter to Crown Prince Guillaume. According to a statement issued by the court, the countess suffered a stroke and died on Sunday, August 26. She would have turned 71 next month.

Alix de Lannoy was born into the della Faille de Leverghem family in September 1941 and married Count Philippe de Lannoy in 1965. She is survived by her husband and eight children.

So soon after the event, there is no news about whether the marriage of Guillaume and Stéphanie (pictured here earlier this year, following the announcement of their engagement) will be postponed. According to one royal observer, a mourning period of six weeks would usually be observed, which would end just ten days before the civil wedding ceremony on October 19.
