Cheek By Jowl, which consistently delivers intense and compelling theatre, arrives at the Grand Théâtre with its latest Shakespeare production following successful stagings of “Cymbeline” and “Macbeth” and, most recently, John Ford’s Jacobean tragedy “’Tis Pity She’s a Whore”.
Declan Donnellan directs the company’s version of “Winter’s Tale”, with design as always by Nick Ormerod. The production won Russia’s prestigious Golden Mask award following performances in St. Petersburg. The Telegraph says the show is “… a production of rare clarity and deeply affecting emotional depth... goes unerringly to the heart of this most miraculous of play.”
The show was originally scheduled for three performances, but an additional performance was added when it proved to be so popular. Now a few tickets remain for the shows on 2, 3 and 4 March.
