The BCC was founded in 1992 when a group of English-speaking business leaders in Luxembourg decided to convert what was then a local chapter of a Brussels-based organisation into a fully-fledged chamber of commerce.

It began life with 75 founding members, and today counts more than 300 internationally-oriented organisations and individuals among its ranks, including most of the original participants, current chair Robert Deed recounted during his brief remarks.

The highlight of Wednesday evening’s garden party was “the fact that the weather held for us, and it was a lovely social occasion to see so many of our members who could get together to celebrate the anniversary,” Sophie Kerschen, the chamber’s manager, told Delano following the event. “It was just a very enjoyable night.”

The soiree also featured a performance by Gast Waltzing’s Quartet, one of the Grand Duchy’s best known jazz ensembles, as well as British specialties such as mini fish & chip cones and curries.

Down at the gazebo, Pimm’s and gin & tonics were served along with Luxembourg crémant, whose appellation, Kerschen noted, is also celebrating its 20th anniversary this year.
