The Fondation de l’Architecture et de l’Ingénierie aims to preserve and promote the Grand Duchy’s urban heritage.

The foundation is housed at the former Paul Wurth steelworks, which have been transformed into a culture cluster that is helping revitalise the Hollerich area. Other tenants at the site include culture venues CarréRotondes and Exit07.

For the past five years the foundation itself has occupied 1 rue de l’Aciérie, a building that dates back to the 1910s which served as Paul Wurth’s worldwide headquarters until the early 1990s. The foundation’s library was once the industrial giant’s boardroom. It also hosts exhibitions and conferences--in a space that was likely Luxembourg’s first open-plan office--throughout the year, although usually during the daytime.

Last week’s event began with the official reception outdoors and conference in a former factory floor--which were attended by Claude Wiseler, the infrastructure minister, and Octavie Modert, the culture minister. Afterwards the Thursday night-Friday morning party featured DJ Ricco Suave, Shanu and Darko behind the turntables.
