Like many in Luxembourg’s international community, “Nordics like to party”, Timo Ranta, Finland’s ambassador to the Grand Duchy, told the crowd during Delano’s 4th anniversary celebration.

The Nordic themed “Skål” party, sponsored by Nordea and Luxair and held Tuesday evening at Melusina, was a chance to turn the spotlight on the Danes, Finns, Icelanders, Norwegians and Swedes living in Luxembourg--the topic of the Delano February print edition which hits newsstands on Wednesday.

The soirée was attended by members of the 60+ Network, Danish Association, Danish Management Society, Finnish-Luxembourg Society, Finnish school, Friskis&Svettis, Icelandic Association, Nordic & Walk Luxembourg, Nordic Women’s Club, Norwegian Association, Swedish choir and Swedish Women’s Educational Association, as well as members of the Indian Business Chamber of Luxembourg, Luxembourg Red Cross international section, and Paperjam Club (which is part of the same company as Delano and organised the event), plus Delano readers and advertisers.

After the Finnish ambassador’s remarks, some lucky readers were rewarded with prizes drawn by Delano sponsors.

Patrik Österblad won a €500 Ikea gift voucher offered by Nordea.

Denise Ryan and Bjorn Hogland each received a language training course from Prolingua.

Anne-Kathrin Hasdorf won return flights for two to Copenhagen or Stockholm on board Luxair.

There were 1,017 attendees at the Skål birthday bash, a record number for a Delano event. Previous parties have featured the USA (Wild Wild West), UK (London Calling), Ireland (Everything’s Gone Green) and South Asia (Spice It Up).

The evening also featured Nordic culinary treats from Njörd, music from up north curated by DJ Paloma Summer, and icy cool décor by Noon Design.
