Family minister Corinne Cahen has requested more information from assisted living company Orpea as it looks to open its first care home in Luxembourg amid allegations of mistreatment and embezzlement in France.

As family minister, Corinne Cahen (DP) is responsible for taking the decision on whether Orpea will be able to operate in the grand duchy, she has sent a letter to the French company asking for additional information in the context of its application to open a care home in Merl in the capital city.

The letter was also sent to members of the family and integration committee of the chamber of deputies alongside a report from the French general inspectorate of finance and the general inspectirate of sical affairs.

In May the assisted living company landed in hot water once more after cross-border journalism cooperative Investigate Europe published a report alleging that Orpea had used a Luxembourg holding company Lipany to embezzle money.
