The January 2025 issue of Paperjam magazine is devoted to the 2024 edition of the Paperjam Top 100, the ranking of the most influential economic decision-makers in Luxembourg. Here are the personalities ranked between positions 11 and 20.

11. Alain Kinsch

is a major figure in the Luxembourg economy. Managing partner of EY Luxembourg from 2009 to 2020, he has left his mark on the sector through his expertise and strategic vision. Vice chairman of the Council of State and Chairman of the Luxembourg Stock Exchange since 2022, he also sits on the boards of Aperam, PaypalEurope, Groupe Foyer and OCSiAl. A keen aviation enthusiast, he flies planes in his spare time. Committed to education, research and innovation, he embodies Luxembourg's excellence and dynamism, both in business and in society.

12. François Mousel

joined PwC in 2005 and has been managing partner of PwC Luxembourg since July 2023. He began his career in auditing before joining the Luxembourg financial regulator CSSF in 2009 as a senior adviser. Returning to PwC in 2013, he became a partner in 2015 and stands out for his expertise in strategic transformation and consulting. As chairman of the PwC Foundation, he supports educational and social initiatives. He has also contributed to the development of the sector as a member of the "réviseurs d'entreprises" (statutory auditors) examination board.

13. Fernand Ernster

is managing director of Ernster Bookshops, a family business founded in 1889 by his great-grandfather. A graduate in economics and law, he joined the company in 1984 and took over its management in 1989. Under his management, the Ernster network expanded to 10 shops and became a major cultural player in Luxembourg. In 2023, he was elected chair of the Chamber of Commerce and a director of the UEL, where he defends the interests of Luxembourg businesses. A passionate lover of literature, he illustrates the alliance between tradition and modernity.

14. Jean-Marc Ueberecken

has been managing partner of Arendt & Medernach since 2014, leading Luxembourg's largest law firm. An expert in corporate law and mergers and acquisitions, he advises multinationals, financial institutions and entrepreneurs. A graduate of the Catholic University of Louvain and King's College London, he has been a member of the Luxembourg Bar since 1998. A former professor at the University of Luxembourg, he is also involved in promoting legal excellence and innovation in the financial sector.

15. Jacques Elvinger

is a renowned lawyer specialising in commercial, corporate, banking and financial law. A partner at Elvinger Hoss Prussen, he heads the asset management and investment funds department. A member of the Haut Comité pour le développement de la place financière, he also sits on the CSSF's advisory committee for fund managers. A former member of the board of Alfi, he teaches at the University of Luxembourg. Admitted to the bar in 1984, he is trilingual in English, French and German.

16. Béatrice Belorgey

is a leading figure in the Luxembourg banking sector. A graduate of the Institut d'études politiques de Paris, she began her career at BNP Paribas in 1986 as a credit analyst. After holding various positions within the bank, she became head of BNP Paribas Banque Privée France in 2013. In July 2020, she was appointed chair of the executive committee of BGL BNP Paribas and head of BNP Paribas entities in Luxembourg. Her career illustrates solid expertise and a constant commitment to banking excellence.

17. Laurent Schonckert

is a company director. After studying law and economics at the University of Nancy, he joined the Cactus group in 1984, where he held various positions before being appointed director and CEO in 2002. He also had a career as a footballer, playing for Union Luxembourg from 1979 to 1992 and winning 18 caps for the national team between 1984 and 1987. Until March 2024, he was vice chair of Unicef Luxembourg, reflecting his commitment to charitable causes.

18. Camille Fohl

is a leading figure in the Luxembourg banking sector. A graduate in applied economics from the Catholic University of Louvain, he began his career in 1980 with Lux-Development, before joining Banque Générale du Luxembourg in 1987. He then held executive positions within the Fortis and BNP Paribas groups, overseeing retail banking activities in Central and Eastern Europe and Asia. In 2017, he was appointed chairman of the board of directors of Spuerkeess.

19. Carlo Thelen

has been managing director of the Chamber of Commerce since January 2014. With a master's degree in economics from the Catholic University of Louvain, he joined the Chamber of Commerce in 1996 as an economic adviser. He became a member of the management committee in 2003, then held the positions of director of economic affairs, director of international affairs and chief economist. At the same time, he is general secretary of the Œuvre nationale de secours Grande-Duchesse Charlotte, actively involved in social and cultural initiatives.

20. Olivier Coekelbergs

has been the country managing partner of EY Luxembourg since July 2020. With over 20 years of experience, he has served private equity funds and general partners around the world. Prior to his current appointment, he headed EY Luxembourg's private equity practice and was vice-chairman of the Luxembourg Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (LPEA). A graduate in auditing and accounting from the Facultés universitaires catholiques de Mons in 1999, he is recognised for his expertise in the valuation of illiquid assets and the application of IFRS and US GAAP.
