The government has announced the date of the next legislative elections: Sunday 8 October 2023. 60 MPs will be elected to the Chamber of Deputies for a five-year term.

They were widely expected to take place in October 2023, but the exact date was not known until this week. The date has now been officially announced: parliamentary elections will be held on Sunday 8 October 2023.

60 MPs will be elected to the Chamber of Deputies for a five-year term. The bloc of parties that can muster at least 31 seats and strike a coalition agreement will then be able to form a government.

Voters will be called to the polls at least five days in advance by the local council where they live.

Municipal elections will be held just a few months earlier, on 11 June 2023.

In view of these two elections, organisations have already begun to submit their demands to the candidates. This was notably the case at a press conference at the Chamber of Commerce at the end of October. The Chamber of Trade did the same, publishing a list of 30 proposals. Syvicol, the umbrella group for local governments, has listed 36.
