Grand Duke Henri swore in former diplomat Paul Dühr as the lord chamberlain on 20 April.

The position of Maréchal de la Cour (lord chamberlain), the supervisor of the royal household and an important advisor to the head of state, had been vacant since previous incumbent  at the start of January. Dühr succeeds in the management of the Grand Duke’s household Backes alongside Yves Arend, director of the lord chamberlain’s office.

Dühr is a former member of the diplomatic corps and was ambassador to France among other positions. In a statement issued on 25 February when the appointment was announced, the court said Dühr’s “experience and skills acquired over a long career in positions of responsibility in Luxembourg as well as abroad, will be used to take charge of the grand-ducal household.”
