Policy trends and ESG highlighted at asset management conference



The Association of the Luxembourg Fund Industry opened its two-day European Asset Management Conference on Tuesday.

The morning session during day one (Tuesday 22 March) examined economic and policy trends, and featured a CEO panel that covered several strategic challenges.

Yuriko BackesYuriko Backes (DP), Luxembourg’s newish finance minister, pledged support for the sector. Claude MarxClaude Marx, head of the Luxembourg financial regular CSSF, addressed European regulations, greenwashing and Russia sanctions.

The afternoon session focussed on environmental, social and governance (ESG) criteria and the EU’s Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation, which looms large over the funds sector.

The conference was a hybrid event. About one-third of attendees logged on to the livestream, Corinne LameschCorinne Lamesch, Alfi’s chair, said in her remarks.
