Parliament on Tuesday will debate citizen participation in political decision-making. Delano’s Cordula Schnuer and Ara City Radio’s Tom Clarke on Monday looked ahead at the discussion, which will give parties an opportunity to position themselves with potential proposals ahead of this year’s elections.

Launched by (déi Gréng), the debate will look at how politics can become more inclusive and involve citizens, following on from initiatives such as public petitions, citizens’ council but also a new mechanism for voters to make draft law proposals to parliament.

To kick off the week, Cordula and Tom also talked about some upcoming events, including the at Neimënster, a concert by saxophonist at Opderschmelz in Dudelange on 22 March, and the concert and event hosted by Luxembourg’s Kazakh community on 22 and 24 March.

Finally, Cordula’s personal pick of the week is the book In Defence of Witches by Mona Chollet. The Swiss journalist draws a parallel between the witch hunts of the 15th to 18th centuries and the discrimination and misogyny directed at women today, especially those who are financially independent, choose not to have children and refuse to abide by mainstream beauty standards.
