On Tuesday 21 November, more than 500 finance professionals gathered at Casino 2000 for a gala dinner celebrating the inaugural edition of the Finance Awards.

During the event, finance minister  (CSV), Luxembourg for Finance CEO  and keynote speaker , CEO of Cognitive Finance Group, took the stage.

The government will push for tax reforms to entice international finance firms and workers, Luxembourg’s new finance minister Roth said in his .

In his introductory remarks, Mackel began by thanking the organisers for “bringing together bankers, asset managers, insurers, lawyers, and everybody in one room” for the event.

Reflecting on the new finance minister (and former mayor of Mamer), Mackel said, “Everybody I heard comments from about Gilles Roth told me that there's nobody who has managed a commune more efficiently than Gilles Roth. And these are people who live in Mamer--some of them in the room--but there are other people who are quite aware of what an efficient decision-maker [he is].”

“That is something that we definitely look forward to having in the ministry of finance--somebody who is really result-oriented, somebody who wants to get things done,” said Mackel.

He then encouraged the new finance minister to “leverage the expertise that is available in this room in the five years of this government, to constantly discuss and see what ideas they come up with, because I think that there is a pool of expertise, a pool of intelligence that is available, and that definitely should help bringing Luxembourg forward.”

And in her , Durodié argued that the pace of change in the sector of artificial intelligence is “unprecedented.” But it’s important to understand the technology before rushing into deployment, she said. The financial sector has a “huge responsibility” to carefully consider the risks associated with AI.
