PwC Luxembourg has launched a call for applications for its 2023 cybersecurity and privacy day pitching contest, taking place on 8 June at Crystal Park.

This year’s competition centres on leadership and its role in driving cybersecurity efforts and awareness. The top five finalists will compete on 8 June for a jury’s choice and people’s choice award. This follows a CEO corner day on 7 June.

“Cybercriminals are a species that evolve all the time. Technology is changing all the time. And hackers change with it. Good leadership means never resting on the solutions that keep you protected today, but constantly preparing for what the hackers will do tomorrow,” PwC Luxembourg cybersecurity leader said in a Wednesday press statement. 

PwC’s global chairman Bob Moritz presented the firm’s in Davos on Monday, which revealed that cyber is the top operational risk for the more than 4,400 chief execs who participated, with 48% saying they are upping investment in data privacy or cybersecurity. This is at least in part due to a rise in concerns over geopolitical conflicts, which 25% cited as a top risk following inflation (40%) and macroeconomic volatility (31%). A Luxembourg-specific report is set to be released on 8 February.

Those wishing to pitch innovative solutions during the cybersecurity and privacy day can ; the five finalists will be announced in mid-April. Those pitching will be eligible to receive professional coaching from PwC starting in mid-April.

This year marks the first year the cybersecurity and privacy day will take place in June. Last year’s edition, held in October, saw two Swiss companies take home top prizes: startup , a collaboration app for business privacy, bagged the people’s choice award, while the jury award went to Exeon Analytics, a solution for network detection and response. Others competing as a relevant solution to the grand duchy included Filancore (Germany), Fortinium (Switzerland) and KeyCaliber (US).
